Workshops on 27 April 2019

Kunsthumaniora Antwerp (Karel Oomsstraat 24)

Morning 10h-13h: Tensegrity and the relation body and voice with Herlinde Wynants

Chronic health complaints are preceded and maintained by an imbalance in the autonomic nervous system. Such an imbalance doctors call "autonomic dysfunction".

The prosody (the pitch, the timbre, the rhythm and the degree of breath support of the spoken word) reflects the balance / imbalance of the autonomic nervous system.

Restoring an imbalance in the autonomic nervous system has immediate repercussions on the quality of the voice. Dr. Herlinde Wynants is learning through group sessions how the balance is restored.

Small, successive assignments in group stimulate senses and reflexes, allowing the whole body to function as a coordinated whole again.

In this workshop, participants are invited to literally get better in their skin. . . and you can hear this in their voice.

Dr. Herlinde Wynants is a doctor for 30 years. In addition to a specialization in general internal diseases, she worked in the Antwerp Prince Leopold Institute for Tropical Medicine and later in the University Hospital Antwerp (UZA). Since she started working there in 1995, she has become increasingly interested in patients with ME, CFS, Fibromyalgia, spasmophilia, spastic colon, and burnout.

From this interest she has written in 2005 the book "Why does Pinokkio want to become a boy? revised in 2008. Stress and overload, mechanisms that lead to health complaints, dysfunction and negative emotions. In 2015 she published the book" Being healthy is fun. Recover your resilience step by step ". Various songs are included in this book in order to find or improve the resilience from the body and voice.

This workshop is highly recommended for every professional voice user, but also for those who have to talk a lot every day in company or sing in a choir.

Afternoon 14h-17h: Body Mapping (Body, mind and breathing) with Raf De Groote

Karel Oomsstraat 24 2018 Antwerp

Breathing during music making, and thus also with voice, becomes almost self-evident through experience.

Breathing does not stand alone: your posture, fitness, freedom of movement, tension and expectations, your inner self-talk and even your mood play a role.

If you "meet yourself" it is not "always" a matter of technical shortage, lack of talent or perseverance.

In this workshop we use a ground-breaking pedagogy, which brings together all these elements in a graduated way. In doing so, we do not consider "avoidance of complaints", but rather embody ideal functionality.

Functional - experiential anatomy, starting from your personal perspective.

Small but clear steps to "better", which you can always find and expand.

Breathing support is in a sense "leverage". And that starts ... in the feet.

We discover "bone rhythms, proprioception, ground reaction force and much more" and eliminate many (possibly unconscious) misunderstandings.

Body Mapping and the Franklin Method (Juilliard School, Cirque du Soleil, Royal Ballet, Vienna University, Pilates worldwide ...) an unforgettable and transforming experience that you can experience at this workshop

Flutist Raf De Groote (1960) made a thorough training as a late beginner. From personal history, he went in search of a deeper insight into the relationship between the body and making music. This never-ending search was about Feldenkrais, Alexander technique and Body Mapping (teachers’ certificate).

In the end, he was the first Belgian to follow the 3-year education to Franklin Method educator. Raf gives numerous workshops on the role of posture, movement, breathing and making music. (Body Mind and Music / Breathing path for professionals / Fit for the Office.)

He has been a guest on "Sing That Body" of the NVZ in Arnhem (2016) and on the “Akousticum Talent Program” (NCPA Arnhem) / Koortreffen Koor and Stem Torhout 2016 / ....

In 2018 he gave a very appreciated lecture and workshop at the Symposium of Evta-Be
